It was boring, shot poorly (almost like someone with a video camera was just walking made me dizzy at times) full of characters that were unpleasant and horrid, predictable, and violent. I don't see why people are raving about the acting, was good, but not better than any other movie. The one and only redeeming quality to the movie was that it was nice to see Adam Sandler in something different, far from his normal genre.

It's a fantastic film, but realize It's not funny or cute Adam Sandler. It's endless anxiety, profanity, and poor decisions for 2 hours and 15 minutes.
It's a dark and gritty film and it's not there to make you smile or feel good. It's there to take you into a horrible persons life who struggles with doing anything right ever, then make you feel as trapped and screwed as he is. br> Wow, it was dark. I'm mentally drained, but in a great way. It's an incredible success at what it's aiming for. Remarkable movie, but often exhausting for your mind.

In 2012, gambling addict Howard Ratner runs a jewelry store in New York's Diamond District. He struggles to pay off gambling debts, including the $100, 000 he owes to his loan shark brother-in-law Arno. His domestic life is split between his estranged wife Dinah, who has agreed to divorce him after Passover, and his mistress Julia, who works at his store. Basketball player Kevin Garnett visits the shop. Howard has ordered the Ethiopian opal and plans to auction it for an estimated price of $1, 000, 000. He shows the opal to Garnett, who becomes obsessed with it, insisting on holding onto it for good luck at his game that night. Howard reluctantly agrees, accepting Garnett's NBA championship ring as collateral. Howard pawns the ring and places a bet on Garnett playing extraordinarily well in that night’s game. Howard wins the lucrative bet, but is ambushed at his daughter's school play by Arno and his bodyguards, Phil and Nico. Arno reveals that he placed a stop on Howard’s bet, as it was made with money owed to him. Phil and Nico strip Howard naked and lock him in the trunk of his car, forcing him to call Dinah for help. Howard calls his employee Demany, who is at a party hosted by the Weeknd. Demany reveals that Garnett still has the opal. When he finds Julia and the Weeknd together in a nightclub bathroom, Howard demands that she leaves his apartment. I dont know where the cliche over played Adam Sandler came up with this acting but. much respect to him for a great portrayl of his character... This movie is amazing and deserves to be watched and rewatched... If you gamble or enjoy the idea of a risk taker in financial means... you will enjoy this soo much... The only reason im writing is because woooww finally Adam. S actually did the job I wished he could do in all of his movies, he went out of his comfort zone in this and it shows.
